Snowmageddon 2014

Another post from almost a year ago that never got published...

February 2014 was a pretty bizarre month! Why you ask? This was the month of Snowmageddon 2014. Now I know lots of places get lots of snow on a regular basis, but here in Alabama, the tiniest bit brings life as we know it to a stop. Snowmageddon 2014 started out just like any other day, mommy at work, kids in school, etc. The weather had predicted snow flurries that shouldn't interfere with travel. Boy, were they wrong! By 10:00 am, the ground was covered. Schools dismissed early, but it was too late. Many of the buses at my school got stuck. The buses at Alyssa's school didn't even run, and Jared had to go pick up Alyssa. I got out of work just in time. Just a few minutes later and I would probably have been part of the 50 or so students/faculty that had to spend the night at the school. As it was, my normal 20 minute drive turned into almost 4 hours. After a little quiet time to restore my sanity after the icy drive, we had lots of fun in the pretty, white snow. :)

Party Time

Found this from last January and forgot to publish, sooooo.........

Alyssa celebrated her seventh birthday with a swim party in the winter. She was so excited to be able to swim when it is cold outside! She had lots of fun swimming the afternoon away at her Monster High party! Here are a few pics from her special day:

Allie wasn't a fan of the swimming

Living the Circus Life

We continued our celebration of Alyssa's birthday weekend with a trip to the greatest show on Earth....THE CIRCUS!!! Such a fun afternoon with Alyssa and Audrey, and we were so glad Heidi and Hillary came with us. The girls hadn't been in a couple of years, and they were in awe all of the sights and stunts.

Audrey loved all of the things involving animals, but the trapeze artists were her favorite. Alyssa loved watching the motorcycle riders, but has decided not to ever join the circus because "it's just too dangerous".

Days like today sure do make being a Mommy super fun!

Jean Bean is 7!!!!

Happy birthday to my first baby, the little girl who made me a mommy, Alyssa Jean Freeman! As of yesterday, she is SEVEN!!! It seems like just yesterday I was rocking her to sleep with her pacifier and lovey. I know it sounds cliche', but it is so very true and make my heart hurt just a little to think of how quickly she is growing up. In no time at all, she will be in double digits :( Happy birthday sweet girl, Mommy LOVES you more than the most!

Just a few fun facts about this seven-year-old...
  • The girl LOVES jokes, especially the ones on popsicle sticks and Laffy Taffy wrappers
  • She's very into animals, her new favorite thing is to watch documentaries on National Geographic and Animal Planet- she knows more about baboons and wolves than most :)
  • She LOVES school and learning new things
  • SUPER DUPER DRAMATIC! Tiny, little things are the end of the world to this girl.
  • Totally a perfectionist (which is not always a good thing)
  • Loves anything artsy (drawing, making jewelry, making things out of random objects, and her newest obsession- making rubber band bracelets)
  • I think she would live outside on her swingset if I would let her
  • Can ALMOST ride her new bike without the training wheels
  • Her favorite shows are American Idol and Full House
  • The kid loves to sing and does it all day. every day. non stop.

Christmas Comes But Once a Year

It's hard to believe that 2014 is already here! The month of December flew by! I guess the old saying is true... time does fly when you're having fun, and we packed a whole lotta fun into the month of December. Here's the highlight reel....

We started the month off by turning into popsicles at the Oneonta Christmas parade. It was FREEZING!!! Alyssa marched in the parade with her dance class and was so excited about it. You have to admit, she does look pretty cute. :)
Candy cane cutie
Fun at the parade

Alyssa and Audrey both had lots of fun making ornaments and fun crafts at school and at their Christmas parties. Parents aren't allowed at the preschool party, but Alyssa was so excited that I was able to come to her class party.

The Sunday before Christmas the children's choir at church had their Christmas program, and Alyssa had her one line acting debut. She took it very seriously. Audrey.... not so much! :)
My little actress

Of course we had to make gingerbread houses, but I must admit a lot of the candy was eaten before making it onto their houses. Especially when Allie was helping ;)
We finally gave her a sucker, so she wouldn't eat the candy on the houses.

A fun Zoolight Safari outing with Miss Dusti Lou and Tracy. Of course, we had to stop for chicken nuggets and ice cream at Chik-fil-A on the way home. It's never too cold for ice cream you know!
Loving mommy's milkshake
Sweet sisters
Silly girls

As always, Christmas Eve involved cookie decorating and lots of eating and present opening. We have some very loved and lucky little girls!!!
Excited about her new clothes
Me: "Say cheese!" Allie: "uh-uh"

Our ATTEMPT at a matching pj pic- it shouldn't be this hard!
Harriet the elf made an appearance again this December to keep Santa up-to-date on everyone's behavior. After an email from Santa telling the big girls that they needed to get along and the news that the girls were smack dab in the middle of the naughty and nice list, the girls were on their best behavior. Alyssa couldn't understand how Allie made it to the nice list. "I mean, she throws a tantrum every single day and she's way worse than us!" Silly girl! We woke up Christmas morning to find out they had made the nice list after all ;)

They thought they were going to have to share a tablet, but they each got their own

Still half asleep, but excited about her Dream Lite

Happy with her loot

As you can see, we had a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and we hope you did too! Happy New Year!!!
