Kindergarten Kid

We officially have a kindergartener! I can't believe my baby is in big kid school. Alyssa has been so very excited about starting school all summer and was so excited she tried to wake up at 3:00 this morning. Daddy took Alyssa this morning since teachers can't really miss the first day of school. It's probably a good thing though- it could have gotten a little emotional! She rode the bus this afternoon without any problems thank goodness. From what I can tell, it sounds like Alyssa had a great first day. There were lots of exciting things for her to tell me about: "Mommy, did you know there are no seat belts on the bus?!?!" and "There's this boy in my class that looks like the Sam from my preschool, but it's not Sam from my preschool and he's a GREAT artist. I mean, he's even better than ME! He drew a duck and a boat and it looked just like a duck and a boat." That's a huge compliment to the boy who looks like Sam because Alyssa thinks very highly of her drawing ability ;) She was also pretty excited to find a tire swing on the playground and about not taking a long nap. "Mommy, we don't really have to go to sleep; we just have to lay down and be quiet and rest our bodies. But there are no cots! We have to sleep on the FLOOR!!!" I'm so glad my sweet girl likes school and can't wait to see everything she learns!
