Alyssa went for her 18 month checkup today. She woke up this morning with an upset stomach and threw up all over the carpet. Boy, that was fun to clean up! She's never thrown up before and I think it scared her. She must have felt better after that because by the time we arrived at the doctor's office at 8:30 she was running all over the place. At the doctor's office, there is a well waiting room and a sick waiting room. We, of course, waited in the sick room after Alyssa's morning. For a while, we were the only people there and Alyssa kept trying to run across the hall to the well waiting room because she could see and hear all the other kids playing. Mommy got her exercise trying to keep her where she needed to be. When we FINALLY saw the doctor, she said Alyssa probably had a touch of a stomach virus and just to keep her hydrated. Alyssa was still able to get her 18-month shot since she didn't have a fever. Now she doesn't need any more shots until she is four.
Yay!! She's getting to be such a big girl. She weighed 27 pounds and was 34 1/2 inches long. The doctor asked about her words. She's started saying lots more words and animal sounds in the past 2 weeks, but I still wasn't sure if she was talking as much as she should be (must be the teacher in me). The doctor said as long as they are saying 4-10 words there's nothing to be worried about. The chart I read on the Internet said 5-20 words was normal at 18 months and Alyssa can say about 20 words now, so I guess Mommy is just a little paranoid. Some of her new favorites are
paci aka pa-pa, moon, baby (everyone who is not an adult is a baby), night-night, and no-no. She's started calling Jared daddy instead of
dada now, too. I can't believe she's getting so big!!
