For the past 2 weeks, we were in California visiting Jared's mom's side of the family (who live close to San Francisco). First of all, let me say that when the people designed Jared's mom's townhouse they did not have people with children in mind. There are stairs everywhere! We definitely got a lot of exercise chasing Alyssa up and down! She thought the stairs were great fun even if they made Mommy and Daddy a little nervous. Alyssa has been a very busy little girl. We got to CA on Thursday, and the first weekend we were there, the 3 of us went to spend the night with Uncle Val. Alyssa had a blast playing with his exercise ball while we were there. All we heard all night was "ball, ball, ball". Alyssa also got to see her first fireworks show while we were in Valley Springs. They set the fireworks off over the Purdee Dam and people bring chairs to sit and watch the show or watch from the water. She wasn't too into it though; she was more interested in watching the other people who were there. The next morning we got up early and drove back to Redwood City to rest and get ready for Grandma's 50th birthday party. Alyssa had a blast playing with the balloons and climbing the stairs at the party. On Tuesday, Alyssa and her cousin Isaac (who just turned 2) went to have their pictures taken together. It was a total disaster!!! We couldn't get them to cooperate and left without one decent picture. Alyssa went to the beach with her grandparents on Wednesday, which she absolutely loved. It was too cold and windy to go in the water, but she loved running in the sand and putting her feet in the ocean (which was freezing). On Thursday, Alyssa joined Mommy and Daddy for a SF Giants game. On the train ride to the stadium, Alyssa made friends with a lady who let her borrow her sunglasses to play with. When we got to the game, she ate garlic fries with Mommy and Dadddy (yummy!!!) and clapped for the Giants as they beat the Cubs. After the game, she went to wish Isaac a happy birthday and help him eat birthday cupcakes. Friday (4th of July) was another busy day. We started the day off by attending the Redwood City Parade. Alyssa loved hearing all the different bands marching and seeing the people dancing. After the parade, we walked around the fair where Daddy won Alyssa a stuffed toy. Saturday, we spent the afternoon with Grandma and her friend and Isaac while Auntie Jasmine was at a wedding. We all went to the park. Alyssa and Isaac had a blast. Sunday was another busy day. We all went to Isaac's birthday party at a park near Grandma's where Alyssa spent most of the time riding the tricycle Isaac got for a present or eating. I don't know how such a tiny person can eat so much food! The next day (Monday), Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, Auntie Jasmine, Isaac, and Alyssa, ventured to Monterey to visit the aquarium. Alyssa loved seeing all the different fish. The sea otters were another one of her favorites. She kept pointing at them and saying "dog", "dog". Tuesday, everyone spent the day relaxing and packing for our trip home since our flight left at 6:45 Wednesday morning. Alyssa amazed her Mommy and Daddy by being a perfect little angel for almost all of the 4 hour flight to Chicago. the 3 hour layover, and the 2 hour flight to Birmingham (which is an absolute miracle). Everyone enjoyed our trip, but I know we're all glad to be back at home.
New home! Come check it out!
